Water Bill Assistance Eligibility

Tiered Assistance Program (TAP)

If your household income is equal to or less than 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), your monthly water bill payment could be fixed at between 2% and 3% of household income.

Is your household income greater than 150% of FPL?

Special Hardship Claims: If your household has special circumstances (such as the loss of a job or the death of a primary wage earner), your monthly water bill payments could be fixed at 4% of household income.

If your income is between 150-250% of FPL, you may still be eligible for monthly payments of about 4% of household income.

Senior Citizen Discount

Seniors 65 or older may be eligible for monthly bills discounted by 25% if household income is less than $42,100 per year.

Enter all sources of income for all members of your household below.

  • Source is optional – you can use this field to keep track of which income sources you’ve entered (useful when there are multiple income earners or types of income) or leave it blank.
  • Amount – enter how much you receive from this source each time.
  • Frequency – select how often you receive this amount from this source.
(What’s the difference between “Bi-weekly” and “Twice per Month”? If you get paid every other week on the same day, regardless of the date, select “Bi-weekly”. If you get paid twice a month on certain dates, enter “Twice per Month”.)

If you have an income source where the amount varies, you can enter an average amount for a rough estimate, enter each amount you have received in the last year separately with the frequency set as “Per Year” so each is only counted once, or check your tax paperwork (W-2, 1099, or other form received from the payer) and enter the total per year.
